Who says miracles don’t happen? It happened here—in Delhi—on July 12 this year!
Supratim Dutta, a 23-year old executive of HCL met with an accident near Gittorni Metro station on the way to his office at Gurgaon. A five-feet-long and two-inches-wide iron rod pierced through Dutta’s chest when the driver of the office car who was allegedly feeling sleepy lost control and hit a Metro barricade.
The angle iron pierced through the bonnet and the dashboard of the car before impaling Dutta, says The Times of India report. Dutta remained in the car unable to move for nearly one-and-a-half hours before his friend Saurabh reached the spot and managed to cut the angle with the help of the local people. Dutta was rushed to the Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre in the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Delhi from there.
It took a six-hour-long surgery at the AIIMS before Dutta was declared out of danger. Dutta survived to tell the story of his brush with death and his miraculous escape. Fortunately, the angle iron did not damage his spinal chord.
Even the doctors who performed the operation on Dutta are amazed with this case. A cat has nine lives, they say. Dutta has proved that he has at least—two. What a miracle!
