Bollywood’s Cine-star turned politician, Sanjay Dutt, has invited trouble by courting controversy in his election campaign for Samajwadi Party at Pratapgarh in the north Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.

Sanjay Dutt, popularly known as Munna Bhai after his roles in box office hits Munna Bhai MBBS and its sequel Lage Raho Munna Bhai, got carried away in his speech and incurred the wrath of the incumbent chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mayawati, who is the chief of Bahujan Samaj Party by making some unwarranted comments.

The local administration has filed a police complaint (FIR) against Sanjay Dutt in Pratapgarh. Another FIR was registered against him earlier for delivering a flagrant speech with the idea cornering Muslim votes.

Sanjay said that he was subjected to third degree torture by Mumbai Police during his interrogation because his mother was a Muslim. And, he went further and asked them whether Mayawati would go to jail for them. What he did not tell them was that he was sent to jail by a TADA court for possession of automatic weapon during the 1993 Mumbai riots that followed the demolition of Babdri Masjid in Ayodhya. TADA is a legislation meant to deal with people involved in or abetting terrorist activities.

Sajay Dutt joined the Samajwadi Party recently and has been assigned the position of the party General Secretary which is an important designation in. Sanjay Dutt was prevented from contesting the election from Lucknow constituency on a Samajwadi Party following a court ruling.

Sanjay may have been prevented from fighting the elections this time but, the way he is going, he may have to fight a few court cases after the elections.
